Impresions of a Connected Body: How Advertisement is Inciting Us to Digital Connection

For those who read Portuguese, this is an amazing book about how we are being incited to be connected to social media, all the time and everywhere. It's the basis of the book "Does Social Media Have Limits?" and it's also my first published monograph, in 2019.

Synopsis:

How the longing to always be connected - with the phones ready, the eyes on the screen and the restless fingers on social media - has become something essential for living? In order to make visible such a pregnant phenomenon, Camila Mozzini-Alister faces this problematic from three angles of analysis: digital networks as a place of truth production; network sharing as a strategy for the universalization of digital connection; and the networks' universality as a mode of subjectivation. Networks, sharing and universality. It is from this argumentative triad that the author resorts on the territory of marketing and converts it into her empirical field of studies. By letting herself be incited by videos and packaging ads, the writing combines practical experience and research theory in order to dissect the premises of equality, happiness and universality of digital networks. All to respond to an insistent quest: after all, how did we come to believe that the life better lived if digitally connected?
